Does Dr. Houston teach alone?
At her discretion, Dr. Houston may include a teaching associate for one day and longer presentations. In that event, the added travel and lodging expenses of the associate are billed to the Client. Dr. Houston may also require her audio technician to be present. Lodging and food for the audio technician are also billed to the client.
In addition to the speaking fee, what other costs are billed to the client?
Dr. Houston originates travel in Medford, Oregon (MFR) and travels business class or better to all destinations as available. All her lodging and food costs are also billed, as well as those of a teaching associate and/or audio technician if needed. The associate's travel expenses are also the Client's responsibility.
How much will this cost?
Dr. Houston's fees vary depending on the subject matter and circumstance. Please call our office, 541-488-1200, to discuss fees for your event.
Will you help us promote our event?
All relevant promotional support documents are located in our Press Kit. Once a contract has been signed, your event will be listed on our website event schedule, with appropriate contact information from you for more information and registration. In addition, we will list your event in our monthly email to our subscribers.
What are the typical contract terms?
Based on the agreed speaking fee, a 50% deposit is due upon signing of the contract. At this time, Dr. Houston will reserve the dates for your event and begin necessary travel and lodging arrangements (unless your office prefers to handle and pay for them directly). Should you choose to make the travel and lodging arrangements, they must be approved by Dr. Houston's office prior to final booking. Thirty days prior to the event, the balance of the speaking fee is due. Any and all expenses incurred by Dr. Houston and her staff (as appropriate) will be billed within ten days after the event, with this payment due in full thirty days after the event.
What if I have to cancel?
There is a deposit due when the contract is signed, amounting to 50% of the total event fee. This deposit is non-refundable if the Client cancels the engagement within ninety days (90) of the date of the event.
What if Dr. Houston cancels?
In the event of cancellation by Dr. Houston, the full deposit and any other monies paid will be refunded to the Client.
What about audio or video recordings of the event?
Jean Houston, Ph.D. retains all rights to her original work presented in her program. If Dr. Houston brings in her own audio technician, the audio technician has the right to create and sell audio products from the event. Otherwise, audio rights are granted under a separate agreement, the terms of which are negotiated separately from the speaking agreement. Video rights are similarly granted under a separate agreement, the terms of which are negotiated separately from the speaking agreement.
